Chanthty

This seems to be very lucky that I have chance to write my personal story to you. I am Chanthy. I am 17 years old. I am studying in grade 11 at High School. I have two brothers and one little sister. My older brother is graduated and now he’s studying at University. My last two siblings are studying in the same school as secondary school students. I am living with my parent’s in Ksach Poy Village.

My father is a staff in the Department of Commerce in Battambang Province. He has one more job as a bicycle repairer. When he is free from his work he always goes to the farm, especially, in the morning. He always gets up early to water the crops with my brother, because they have to go to work in the morning. My brother is working as a volunteer in FEDA where I have just graduated after I had studied since the school was first built. My mother is a farmer, too. When my father is at work my mother always work alone on the farm and comes to cook food for the whole family. She is the most active person in my family. I need help because I am a young girl, I don’t have enough ability to find my own profit to support my study by myself. On the other hand, my parents are weaker than before.

My father’s little salary is not adequate for all my family’s relevant needs. My mother has problem with her eyes because of her hard work that she has always been doing. The soil is not as rich as before and the products do not sell for enough for our expenses. That’s a big problem for every farmer who tries to work on the field with the hope of getting income. Unfortunately their income is not acceptable for them because of such cheap price that can cause the family to get poorer and poorer.

In the community which I live, I have noticed that there are many poor people because of their lack of knowledge. The youth are unemployed. Human resources in my community is very low. And most of my village are farmers. In the future, I want to be an English and Khmer Literature teacher because this language is able to build my community to be developed with Khmer language that is my national language and let them know about English Literature, too. I want them to compare the difference between now and in the ancient time. And the other things and I would like them to get a good education from me for their lives to have a good future.

I hope I will get your compassionate support for my studying.
Thank in advance for your consideration.
Yours sincerely,
Chanthty
